The
Overall Scheme of Things
Two
years ago when I decided we as a family needed to change the
way we ate, I ran from store to store trying to get the best
stuff at the best price. I visited the health food store and
really liked the atmosphere, but not the prices. The mainstream
grocer is a scary thing when you are a label reader. It became
obvious that I was spending more than my share of time and
money trying to rid my life of chemicals.
Into
the picture comes Blooming Prairie. In the past year I have
found wonderful, inexpensive products to replace the toxic
products that I used in the past. This is "a good thing"
as Martha would say. Once a month I get everything from shampoo
to salad dressing delivered to my home with, and this is the
big one, nothing shoved on me or my family in the checkout
lane. How nice it is to get what is on your list and nothing
else. No candy, soda, or any other item you are subjected
to on an end cap with a big yellow happy face on the sign.
Before
I sat down to write this little offering, I checked my checkbook
register and what was outgoing for food and miscellaneous
items then and now. Our family is spending about 30% less
on the best stuff than on the bad stuff. This is such a good
place to be. To have good healthy food for your family without
the price of the health food store. Not having to go to the
discount store for TP or any of the personal care items. And
what we're getting is free from dioxins. Spending money on
things we don't need just because they are in front of us.
KJ and I were talking the other day about how much less we
buy now. We have realized our true needs and they are being
met.
And
yes we do have to go to the store to get bananas and film
developing, but that is a far cry from the past. Still have
to stay in contact with the other half of the world I guess.
That
is all for now. Keep on trying to be as healthy as you can
in this toxic world we live in. If enough of us do it, we
could make a difference for our grandchildren.
